We have professional teachers to choose from, with different styles, techniques and experience.

Cancel your private lesson with 24 hours notice and receive a makeup session credit that’s good for 60 days. (see Terms and Conditions).

Free for all South Loop School of Music students. Music theory is a part of your weekly lessons too!

Most other schools require a yearly or semester commitment. We don't. Our tuition is paid monthly - You can withdraw at anytime with just 14 days notice (see Terms and Conditions), or switch teachers if you feel like trying a different teaching style or a different instrument.

We are open all year long including summer (excluding holiday closures)!

Most studios charge a fee every semester. We don't. With us, you pay a registration fee once when you first sign-up and don't pay it again as long as you remain a member.

All our members get 2 free performance opportunities per year at PianoForte's beautiful concert hall.

Our staff is available 6 days a week to assist with scheduling, tuition payment, etc.

South loop school of music offers Music Together®. Music Together® is a caregiver-driven early childhood music education program for caregivers and children (babies - age 5).

We teach all styles from classical to blues to jazz to rock. Whether you want to learn Bach or Alicia Keys, our teachers are happy to help you become the musician you want to be.

We teach the basic skills (music theory, proper technique) you will need to play the music you love and have fun doing it. Based on your goals and skill level, we also include transposition, improvisation, composition, ear/aural training, and exam/performance preparation. Many beginners are playing simple songs within a few weeks of lessons.

You do not have to have a piano at home to take lessons. A simple full size (at least 66 keys for beginners) electronic keyboard will suffice for most students. For violin and guitar, you teacher will advise you on the proper size instrument to rent or buy at your first lesson.

You will never be required to perform however, there are many benefits to sharing your music with other students, family and friends. Your practice is more focused when you have a short term performing goal, you develop rich friendships with other students who are learning just like you, you acquire complimentary skills such as comfort in front of an audience. Though not required, you will have the opportunity to play in fun, relaxed recitals.

You can start piano lessons at age 3 years and violin, voice, ukulele, and drums at age 4 years. Prior to 4 years old, an early childhood music program is recommended.

We teach Monday - Saturday by appointment.

Our memberships for children up to age 18 are set up for lessons once per week. In between lessons, students practice what they learned in their lesson. For adult students, we offer an option to take one lesson every other week.

South Loop School of Music offers lessons at our convenient South Loop location at 1815 S Michigan Ave and in the comfort of your own home via Zoom.
